In celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, Spangdahlem High School students Kaan Y. and James L., enrolled in Video Communications 3, applied their classroom skills to a real-world project by producing a commercial for a local coffee shop in Trier, Germany.

The students were responsible for creating the script, directing camera shots and transitions, and editing the final video. This hands-on experience sharpened their technical abilities and provided valuable lessons in professional client communication and collaboration.

“Working with a local coffee shop to create an advertisement was definitely a valuable experience,” Kaan said. “I was able to learn firsthand how to work with a client on a real product, and I’m glad to have been able to do something nice for the community at the same time.”

James added, “It felt good getting to apply the things I learned in school for a real job.”

This project exemplifies the goals of CTE Month, which celebrates the importance of providing students with real-world skills for the workforce. As noted in the 2025 CTE Month Proclamation by President Donald J. Trump, the focus is on “investing in the best training and retraining opportunities” to strengthen the workforce and equip students with the skills needed for success in the 21st century economy.
